The Poole College of Management offers undergraduate degrees in accounting, business administration, and economics. The Office of Undergraduate Programs within Poole College promotes and supports the holistic development of Poole College students as leaders in our diverse, global community. In partnership with our faculty, staff, and external constituents, we provide the resources necessary to empower students to make well-informed decisions in support of their academic, professional, and personal development. Our resources are provided in an environment that fosters recognition of and respect for individual diversity and cultural competence while promoting a community of inclusion and equity.

The Office of Undergraduate Programs supports our undergraduate student resource units in the Poole College of Management including academic advising, diversity and inclusion, global programming, and career and internship development. Our academic advisors act as a catalyst for students to achieve their best outcomes, providing developmentally focused advising that incorporates both curricular and co-curricular guidance. Our academic advisors are instrumental in the whole student experience from the academic requirements necessary to progress to graduation to the full breadth and depth of co-curricular offerings within our College that allow students to be as competitive as possible upon graduation.

Essential Job Duties

The primary role of the Academic Advising Team is to serve our 3,800+ students within our team model of academic advising undergraduate students in the Poole College of Management. Our team members advise students on academic requirements (matriculation through graduation), course selection and registration, and other issues related to academic and student success (i.e. international study, student organizations, internships, diversity, and inclusion).

The Academic Advisor will either coordinate or team-teach personal and professional identity development courses to undergraduate students each semester. Our team has adopted developmental and appreciative approaches to academic advising. However, our interactions with students may be more transactional during peak registration advising seasons when our traffic increases. The Academic Advisor will support various efforts in the Office of Undergraduate Programs as needed (including orientation, welcome week, commencement, etc.). Opportunities for hybrid work are possible in this position at the conclusion of the individual's onboarding and training period.
