The Office of Academic Advising seeks an academic advisor that will work primarily with UNI's exploratory student population. The advisor will guide, mentor, and advise students through their major exploration and selection process of academic options. Exploratory advisors provide personalized navigation for each student, building rapport and using different major exploration strategies through their decision-making process. Exploratory advisors have a sense of curiosity and are willing to search for the best fit, in partnership with students as they consider different options.
This position will work with the Office of Academic Advising to build a culture of exploration across the campus community.
Education Requirements:
Master's degree required.
Required Qualifications:
At least two years of advising or related experience in higher education required. Excellent communication and interpersonal relationships skills also required. Graduate student experience will be considered. Occasional evening and weekend work necessary.
Desirable Qualifications:
Master's degree in College Student Personnel or related field; extensive knowledge of higher education academic programs and services; and experience teaching a college level first-year transitions course or career exploration course preferred.
