Two annual (12 month), Probationary leading to Indefinite Academic Staff positions for the role of Academic Advisor are open in the Student Academic Services unit in the College of Letters and Science at UW-Milwaukee.

The College of Letters and Science is the largest school or college at UWM with more than 1,200 faculty, academic staff, and university employees in 25 academic departments and a variety of centers, facilities, administrative units, and interdepartmental academic programs. Letters and Science Advisors engage students in decision making on academic matters such as major/minor choices, course selection and degree requirements. They educate students about and encourage participation in co-curricular experiences such as internships, undergraduate research, and leadership development opportunities. Advisors maintain appropriate confidentiality, update student advising records, and contribute to the planning and delivery of academic advising related events and programs, such as new student orientation. Advisors work to ensure students receive accurate, timely, and holistic advising services to support academic success, and refer students to appropriate university resources. The advising team strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.
This position is in Salary Grade 18, with an anticipated minimum starting salary of $46,000. Salary will be determined by the finalist's experience, education, training, and other factors.
The University of Wisconsin (UW) System offers a comprehensive benefits package to meet the diverse needs of our community. The University contributes towards the cost of several benefit plans. Some health and life insurance premiums are deducted from salary on a pre-tax basis, saving employees money. This position will be granted 176 hours (22 days) of vacation, 36 hours of personal holiday, and paid legal holidays each year. Sick leave will be granted at 176 hours (22 days) of initial entitlement for use during the first 18 months of employment, after the Initial entitlement period, you may earn up to 96 hours (12 days) of sick leave per fiscal year which continues to accumulate and does not expire.
