  • The planed employment will be realized within the SHENG project “Dynamics and Extensions of Loop Quantum Gravity” financed by the National Science Center. The work will be carried out at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw under the supervision of Prof. Dr hab. Jerzy Lewandowski. The employment period is 6 months. The starting date of the appointment is to be agreed on with the selected candidate but must be before the end of February 2022.

    The applications are required to have Ph.D. degree in physics obtained no longer than 7 years before the end of the year 2021, and have a thorough knowledge of the kinematics and dynamics of canonical loop quantum gravity (LQG), including the quantum scalar constraint operator, physical Hamiltonian operators in deparametrized models of LQG and effective quantum Hamiltonian operators. The candidate should be familiar with semiclassical methods in LQG, including coherent intertwiners and coherent states defined on graphs. The candidate is also expected to be proficient in the methods of SU(2) recoupling theory, including diagrammatic techniques, and their applications to intertwiners and spin networks.

    The candidates have to conform to the conditions stated in art. 113 of Higher Education Law dated 20.07.2018. (Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland 2021, item 478)

    A post-doc position should be understood as a full-time job planned by the project manager for a person starting their academic career, who obtained a doctoral degree not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project. This period does not include breaks related to maternity leave, leave on the terms of maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave or parental leave, granted in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Code, or receiving sickness benefit or rehabilitation benefit due to incapacity for work, in it is caused by a disease that requires medical rehabilitation. In the case of women, the indicated 7-year period may be extended by 18 months for each born or adopted child. A woman can choose a more favorable way of indicating breaks in her research career.

    A person holding a post-doc type position may receive remuneration under a full-time employment contract from the pool of full-time salaries, provided that they meet all of the following conditions:

    a) at the time of receiving this remuneration, he / she does not receive any other remuneration from the funds granted as direct costs under NSC calls;

    b) the project manager was not a supervisor / auxiliary supervisor in her doctoral thesis;

    c) has been selected in an open competition, conducted by a three-person recruitment committee appointed by the head of the entity implementing the research project, composed of the project manager as the chairman and at least two persons designated by him with appropriate scientific or professional qualifications. Candidates are assessed on the basis of the criteria set out in the call for proposals, and the results of the competition are made public by posting on the website of the entity where the research project will be carried out;

    d) at the time of receiving this remuneration, they are not employed on the basis of another employment contract;

    e) the amount of funds for employment is 120 thousand. PLN per year. It is possible to indicate a higher amount of remuneration, if it is justified by special circumstances presented in the application. The justification for the increase in remuneration is assessed by a team of experts.

    It is allowed to employ one person in the project from the pool of full-time salaries in a post-doc position who does not meet the criterion indicated in point b).

    In the SHENG 1 call, it is allowed to employ people in post-doc type positions, provided that the total duration of employment of all people in these positions does not exceed twice the planned duration of the project. Employment of one person in this position cannot be shorter than 6 months.
