Working Title 4-H Specialist for Curriculum and Communication
Brief Position Overview
The 4-H Specialist for Curriculum and Communication will provide innovative
leadership and direction for designing, developing, implementing, and
evaluating experientially based curriculum for outreach and priority programs,
as identified on the national and state level across multiple platforms. These
curriculum and program resources will be adaptable for use in traditional 4-H
clubs, schools, home school programs, community partnership programs – such as
those in out-of-school time, and with other youth serving organizations.

We seek individuals who work professionally and effectively with diverse

of Montana State University.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership for identifying, designing, developing, implementing,
and evaluating experientially based curriculum and programs suitable for
use in a variety of settings and organizations.
Provide leadership and direction for 4-H project literature including
identification, development, training, implementation, evaluation, and
revisions to existing materials. Conduct cost analyses of projects and
manage overall curriculum budget.
Coordinate with MSU Extension publications to order, revise, produce new
and current 4-H curriculum, verify ADA accessibility, and produce the
Clover project selection guide.
Collaborate with 4-H Center faculty and staff, Extension departmental
specialists, contracted people, and other resources to identify emphasis
and direction for Montana 4-H curriculum development and design.
Deliver youth development programming support in the areas of youth health
Serve as the Montana 4-H Center representative in after-school
Work collaboratively with the National 4-H Headquarters and 4-H Council,
other Extension services and other research-based organizations to
develop, revise and implement 4-H resources and curriculum for use in
outreach efforts to meet the needs of today's youth.
Conduct workshops, present research-based information and publish
Participate as part of 4-H Center team to deliver statewide programs and
Manage Montana 4-H website, provide timely information to MSU Extension
County offices and organize and develop educational tools and resources
available as digital content.
Maintain all Montana 4-H social media sites twice per week with updates
and new material while utilizing National 4-H marketing pieces for state
and county use. Distribute relevant information across multiple platforms.
Produce statewide communications associated with Montana 4-H news and

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
Earned master's degree. Degrees in education, youth development, psychology, sociology, communications, community development or a closely related field preferred.
An academic record of scholarly accomplishments that will merit appointment as a faculty member in an MSU department.
Experience in curriculum development, youth development, educational design, non-formal education, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate group planning and interaction.
Experience in team building, problem solving, and innovation.
Demonstrated excellence in program design and development, implementation, assessment.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
An earned doctoral degree from an accredited university.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching, innovative teaching strategies and methods, and use of technology.
Demonstrated success in grantsmanship and grant writing.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
Must possess currently or be eligible to obtain a valid State of Montana
Driver's license and have an acceptable driving record (less than 12
points), or have other reliable means of transportation. Must have access to
a vehicle to use for work (mileage will be reimbursed), and have minimum
vehicle liability insurance. Do NOT send a copy of the driver's license.
