Overview

The Garfield County Office of Utah State University Extension seeks a qualified individual who would be responsible for providing Specialized Tutoring for students. Specialized tutoring includes daily help in each core subject area (language arts, science, math). Specialized tutoring is determined through communication with classroom teachers to fit tutoring to students' needs. During the program, the candidate will follow opening activities as needed and tutoring, academic support activities will be offered to enhance learning and improve student perception of core academic subjects through hands-on, engaging after-school 4-H clubs. Approximate availability from 3:00-6:00 on days they are teaching M-Th and 12:00-1:30 p Friday. Pay is based on qualifications- starting at $15

Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach specialized tutoring subjects.
  • Keep tutoring records
  • Attend required training.
  • Attend 4-H Afterschool events such as 4-H service projects, and club showcase, and Family Night Out events as needed
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must work effectively with youth, families, and school
  • Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-Starter, good follow-through
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth
  • Past experience in the 4-H Program as a youth or volunteer
  • Skills related to STEM and other afterschool subject matter
