2D Animation (Tenure-Track position):
The Department of Art and Design at Central Michigan University invites
applications for a tenure-track position in 2D animation to accommodate the
growing needs of the Animation program. The position will begin August 22,
Teach a range of courses in Animation, but not limited to: Introduction to
Animation, Animation Drawing I and II, Concept and Character Design, Character
Performance, and overseeing independently developed student work. Work closely
with faculty in developing the Animation program. Meet the university's
requirements for reappointment, tenure, and promotion, including creative
scholarship and service.
BFA or BA in Art or Animation with five years professional experience in 2D
Animation. Skills should include an extensive working knowledge of tradigital
animation in Toon Boom Harmony, with additional experience in character design
for animation. Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or
without reasonable accommodations.
MA or MFA in Animation, or MA in Art with five years professional experience
in 2D Animation, or. Professional studio experience in 2D Animation. College
level teaching experience as instructor of record.

About the Department
The Animation Program at Central Michigan University is housed in the
Department of Art & Design. While animation courses have been taught since
2017, the Animation BFA program was officially launched in the fall of 2019
and graduated its first senior class in the spring of 2020. We are a growing
program that offers a variety of animation classes from 3D computer courses,
to storyboarding, 2D tradigital, stop motion and traditional media.
