SALARY:

$ 54,134 per hour- Depending on Education and Experience. Plus, excellent fringe benefits

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Masters of Fine Arts Degree or related field with 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline. Demonstrated experience successfully teaching fine arts, specifically Ceramics, 3-D Design, Sculpture, and Art History. Maintain demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college. Demonstrated sensitivity to needs of students, faculty and staff from diverse and multi-cultural backgrounds. Completion of FDU 250 - The Community College within two years of Initial employment, or transcript indicating successful completion of similar course at another college.

Preferred:

Teaching experience at the community college level.

Work Schedule:

Accountable for 33 hours per week

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

All faculty members are involved in continuous assessment and engaged in expanding teaching methodologies and delivery systems to improve student academic success and retention. Full-time faculty will follow an 80-10-10 model. This includes active participation in departmental/divisional meetings and activities, student recruitment/retention/advisement activities, community/partner relationships and in activities that promote and support the district-wide academic goals of the local constituents and the college. Faculty may be asked to teach on various campuses or via online/hybrid courses as directed by the needs of the community. Such assignments may be any length of time and course scheduling may include daytime, evenings, and/or weekend hours.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Teaching Responsibility:

Serves students.

Teach 15 equated load hours/semester, material and preparation time; develop and grade exams and instruments to evaluate student learning and progress; submission of student grades/progress as required by the programs/policies of instruction.

Maintain a minimum of 5 office hours a week each semester.

Direct interaction with students in a formal learning environment.

Remain current in respective discipline, updating course content when appropriate. Maintain standard syllabus/outline for each course, in accordance with program/procedures. Update course syllabus/outline annually.

Working with Associate Dean and departmental faculty, develop and implement processes and tools for assessment of teaching and student learning outcomes Incorporating appropriate methodologies and technology.

In collaboration with colleagues and the Associate Dean, Vice President for Learning Services, and Director of Assessment, Program Review and Curriculum and Articulation, develop a system for evaluation of teaching and learning including course competency expectations and student outcome measures.

Working with the Associate Dean, incorporate results of assessments to modify instruction and materials in general education.

College Responsibility:

Collaborating with Associate Dean and departmental Faculty, Director of Assessment, Program Review, and Curriculum and Articulation, identify student- leaning outcomes: develop assessment processes and tools; Incorporate results to enhance/modify Instruction and material, degree program, course cluster, and/or certificate program as appropriate.

Working and coordinating with Associate Dean, actively participate in student recruitment. retention, and advisement activities and programs.

Participation in institutional functions such as, but not limited to, college committees, task forces, club sponsorships, facilitation of advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment

Resource and mentor of new and associate faculty. Participation may be directed by the Associate Dean or Vice President for Learning Services.

Maintain 10 positive interaction hours/week. Attend graduation ceremonies.

Budgeting and purchasing for the Art and Computer Graphics programs as per college procedures.

Participate in artistic events sponsored by the Division of Fine Arts.

Supervise student workers, lab aide, and adjunct faculty.

Collaborate with the Fine Arts faculty and the Art Clubs.

Maintain compliance with safety regulations, environmental concerns, fire code, and campus risk management Issues and appropriate communication of such Issues, specifically in regard to a ceramic's studio classroom, materials and equipment.

Community Responsibility:

Participate In professional developmental activities outside the College, such as but not limited to, community events, boards, clubs, and conferences.

Serve on local and state advisory committees as directed by the Associate Dean or Vice President for Learning Services.

Support and participate in strategic initiatives.
