Job Description

Central State University (CSU) Upward Bound Program is seeking instructors to teach during the 2019 Summer Camp in the following subject areas: Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Spanish. The CSU Upward Bound Program provides students with the opportunity to enhance their academic skills necessary to successfully complete high school, matriculate through a post- secondary

institution and graduate. The summer camp is a six-week program (three weeks at CSU-Dayton and three weeks in Wilberforce). This is a grant funded position.

Essential Functions

• Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.

• Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.

• Meet course performance goals.

• Create lesson plans for students with diverse learning abilities.

• Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.

• Create positive educational climate for students to learn in.

• Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed.

• Create projects designed to enhance lectures.

• Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.

• Work with program coordinators to ensure initiatives are being met.

• Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

• Prepare and distribute required reports.

• Observe and evaluate student's performance.

• Manage student behavior in the classroom, enforce approved disciplinary procedures.

• Attend meetings and functions.

Minimum Qualifications

A minimum of bachelor's degree in subject area with teaching experience preferred. Must have a valid background check prior to employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree

Teaching Experience with Underserved population

Experience with Upward Bound Program or U.S. Department of Education TRIO programs.
