Position Overview

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Department of Education is seeking Adjunct Faculty for the 2023-2024 academic year to provide part-time instruction of undergraduate and graduate level courses in the following areas:

• Birth through Kindergarten Education • Elementary Education • Middle Grades Education (Social Studies, Math, English/Language Arts, and Science) • Special Education • Secondary English Education • Secondary Math Education • Education Technology

Minimum Experience/Education

• Master's Degree or higher in Education or a closely related area, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours. All education must be documented from an appropriately accredited institution. • NC Teaching License. • Three years or more of teaching experience and related work experience.

The ability to teach weekdays and/or evenings, and/or online.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

• Doctorate Degree in Education (Birth through Kindergarten Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education (Social Studies, Math, English/Language Arts, and Science), Secondary Math Education, Secondary English Education, Special Education, and Education Technology), with a minimum of 18 graduate hours. • Previous teaching experience at the collegiate level. • Previous experience teaching online.

Describe the specific job duties related to this competency

Adjunct Faculty will prepare and teach all course materials and lessons for major courses in Birth through Kindergarten Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Education (Social Studies, Math, English/Language Arts, and Science), Special Education, Secondary Math Education, Secondary English Education, and Education Technology. The Adjunct Faculty will also provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, timelines, and approved syllabi. In addition, the Adjunct Faculty will use evidence-based research in teaching, provide engaging and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes. The Adjunct Faculty will suitably challenge, engage, serve and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect. Additionally, the Adjunct Faculty will complete grade books, mid-term and final grade submission, syllabi submission, learning assessments and final exam assessments on a timely basis, and respond to student questions on a timely basis. The Adjunct Faculty will also ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus. Lastly, Adjunct Faculty will model professionalism and serve as a role model for students in the professional, social and civic areas.
