2 Positions - Associate Professor B & Assistant Professor B - Healthcare Innovations

Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine Full-time, Fixed-term Appointments 3 to 5 Years
Reference number: 83975699

About the position

Bond University's Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine has a multi-disciplinary base across various programs, including Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Nutrition and Dietetic Practice, Exercise and Sports Science, Health Sciences, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.

The Healthcare Innovations discipline is responsible for a suite of postgraduate programs focussed on the effective adoption of innovations into healthcare practice particularly directed at understanding healthcare needs, developing healthcare systems and services for effectiveness and sustainability, health workforce planning and knowledge translation.

The Faculty is also home to the Bond University Institute of Evidence-Based Healthcare. The Institute is a successful, multidisciplinary team established in June 2010 by Professor Paul Glasziou. The Institute delivers world-class research, engagement and training that serves as a national and international resource for scholars, clinicians, system leaders, patients and families in the implementation of evidence-based clinical care. The co-location of Healthcare Innovations and the Institute within the Faculty provides rich opportunities for collaborative research and engagement with healthcare services and the involvement of Institute staff in teaching of Healthcare Innovations programs.

The Faculty is seeking to make two appointments to the Healthcare Innovations discipline at Associate Professor and Assistant Professor levels to contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of the Healthcare Innovations programs. The successful candidates will contribute to a dynamic team's teaching, learning, research, and community engagement activities. Core subjects include applied learning in health systems, education, evidence-based practice and knowledge translation, health service improvement, implementation, and innovation. They will demonstrate academic leadership, including mentoring and development of staff, and ongoing development of curriculum.

About the person

The successful candidates will hold a PhD in a relevant field. For Assistant Professor applications exceptions may be considered where extraordinary relevant professional experience is demonstrated. Applicants will have relevant experience in teaching and research within one or more healthcare systems, health service improvement, implementation, innovation, and evidence-based practice.

As appropriate to the level of appointment and working with the Head of Program and colleagues, the successful candidates will:

  • Coordinate and teach subjects within the program, particularly those that support health service improvement and implementation;

  • Contribute to ongoing curriculum development of the Healthcare Innovations suite of programs;

  • Conduct research into areas relevant to disciplinary expertise and the program. Ideally, the focus will be on improving health services and systems, implementing new interventions, and supporting innovation;

  • Contribute to coordination and delivery of subjects within other programs of the Faculty as appropriate to disciplinary expertise;

  • Collaborate with key health providers and partners to ensure feedback on healthcare priorities, services and system development, workforce needs, and relevant innovations are incorporated into the ongoing development of the program.

Within these over-arching responsibilities, candidates will be expected to demonstrate leadership performance across research, teaching and collaboration activities for an appointment at Associate Professor rank.

The Selection Panel will determine the academic rank of appointment.
