The University seeks to appoint an associate professor to the Globe Institute on a part-time basis to commence as soon as possible.

Job description We invite applications from candidates with research interests across marine paleoecology, sedimentary ancient DNA, and climate change. We are looking for scientists with an exciting and ambitious research programme focused on the Arctic region, and a track-record showing the ability to apply paleoceanographic and paleoecological methods to advance our understanding of climate change, its interaction with the Arctic cryosphere, and impacts on marine ecosystems and biodiversity over multiple timescales (seasonal to millennial). Emphasis on proxy method development is desirable but not essential.

The associate professor's responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
