The call is part of a larger initiative in which the Department wants to strengthen and develop research and teaching in three areas of key importance to the Department with the simultaneous recruitment of 1–2 professors in human geography, 1–2 professors in economic geography and 1–2 professors in development geography. See the Lund University website for information on the various positions https: // www. lu.se/vacancies

Description of the position Duties include initiating, developing and directing research, conducting own research, teaching and supervision at doctoral and other levels, the development of courses and programmes, and administrative duties.

Qualifications Under Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance, a person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor. The research output and teaching must be current and in the field of economic geography. The research expertise must have been demonstrated through independent research work which significantly exceeds the requirements to be qualified for appointment as a docent, in terms of both quality and quantity.

Assessment criteria The assessment criteria for appointment as a professor are set out in Chapter 4, Section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the regulations concerning the appointment of teachers, ref. LS2010/771.

Generally speaking, a very high level of research and teaching expertise is required for appointment as a professor. Of particular importance is the ability to publish research of high international quality, supervise doctoral students and the ability to set up, seek external funding for and develop and lead research projects in the field of economic geography. To qualify for the position, the applicant must have supervised at least one doctoral student to degree level, as principal supervisor or supervisor. In assessing teaching expertise, teaching, supervision and examination at the Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral level as well as experience in the implementation, development and evaluation of courses and programmes will be taken into account. Experience in various types of academic leadership will be assessed.

Consideration will be given to how the applicant's experience and skills are deemed to complement and strengthen ongoing research and teaching in economic geography and contribute to the future development of the Department in a broad sense. The research and teaching profiles of the Department are described on the Department's website (www. keg.lu.se). The ability to work in an internationalised environment and to teach in English is a requirement. As teaching may be in both English and Swedish, non-Scandinavian language holders of the position are expected to eventually master the Swedish language. Furthermore, the position holder is expected to actively participate in the daily activities of the Department.

Application Application submission is done electronically via Lund University's applicant portal. Applications must be submitted as specified in the instructions provided by the Faculty of Social Sciences. These are available on the Faculty's website, https:// www. sam.lu.se/om-fakulteten/jobba-hos-oss, or via recruitment officer Anders Kirchner, [email protected]

The applicant must also attach an outline (approx. 3–5 pages) showing the research he/she intends to conduct in the position in question, and how this fits in with the Department's research profile.

Lund University welcomes applicants with different backgrounds and experiences. We see equality and diversity as a strength and an asset. We look forward to receiving your application! We refrain from any contact from advertisement vendors, or recruitment and staffing companies due to government procurement regulations.
