The Graduate School of the University of Vaasa invites applications for scholarships awarded by the Nissi Foundation and Vaasa University foundation
The scholarships are intended for full-time doctoral students conducting research at the University of Vaasa.

Eligibility
Applicants must have a doctoral study right in the University of Vaasa doctoral programme. All scholarships are paid directly by the foundations, and recipients are required to discuss the specific payment schedules with the respective foundation.
Scholarships can only be awarded to individuals who commit to full-time research and abstain from full-time salaried employment during the scholarship period. Scholarship recipients must actively participate in the activities of their respective research groups.
Scholarship recipients are obliged to apply for statutory pension insurance for the scholarship period from Mela (The Farmers' Social Insurance Institution).
The University of Vaasa provides the opportunity for each doctoral student who has been granted an external, at least 12-month work grant to establish a 10% employment contract with the university.

Decisions regarding the scholarships will be made by the end of February.
NOTE : Doctoral students receiving the Nissi Foundation grant endorsement must submit their information via the Nissi Foundation grant system no later than Monday, 10 March 2025. Instructions will be given to those who receive the endorsement.

The primary selection criteria are:
In 2025, the Graduate School will prioritize doctoral students in the early stages of their studies.
If necessary, the student's supervisor may be asked to provide statements regarding their progress.
